BCC Choirs

Central’s choirs are as diverse as its student body.  Concert Choir is comprised of a wide range of students who may be beginning or continuing their musical journey.  The focus is on sight-reading, gaining skills and adding to their performance repertoire.  This group is open to all high school music lovers.

Resounding Harmony is an audition only three and four part women’s select ensemble that is made up with sophomores through seniors.  They are active sight-readers and are often in the public eye.  They sing individually and together at area sporting events, including the Saginaw Spirit Hockey games.  Since Resounding Harmony’s inception in 1991, they have performed for Senate events, appeared on CBS This Morning, and received the highest level awards at National level competitions.   Many of the members of this group study voice privately, and/or participate in other music groups at Central High School.

Varsity Choir is an audition only mixed ensemble that meets at 6:45 a.m.  Currently there are 65 men and women who make the commitment to make beautiful music this early in the morning every day.  They are active sight-readers and are involved in many performances outside of school.  These performances include performing with the, Blue Light Memorial for fallen police officers, and many performances in the community, as well as their own concerts.  Many of the members of this group study voice privately, and/or participate in other music groups at Central High School.

  • SIX A.M. is an audition only extra-curricular, more jazz/pop-based ensemble that works on small ensemble literature.  They focus on "Pitch Perfect" type arrangements.  They meet one day a week at 6 a.m. and Sunday afternoons.
  • THE GIRLS and THE GUYS are an audition only student-lead extra-curricular four and five part ensembles.  They work on a wide range of musical literature from standard choral repertoire to current pop music.
  • VEST FRIENDS is a new exciting men’s ensemble that is an approval of director audition and occurs during zero hour.
